JUNE  2019 NEWSLETTER

Registration for September 2019

All returning students should have returned registration forms by now.  In order to register your child for September you should have returned the registration form, paid the registration fee ($95.00), and paid the two week deposit.  If we have not received all three items, then your child is not registered for the September session.

Tuition

All final tuition payments for those students not attending the summer session were due on Friday, May 31st.  If you have not yet paid the final balance it is due immediately.

Mother Goose Program / Pre-Kindergarten Graduation

The program will be held on Wednesday, Jun5.  The program will begin at 10:30 AM.  All students in the pre-kindergarten class must be at school by 9:00 AM for a rehearsal.  REMINDER:  Due to space limitations each child may invite only two or three guests.  Adults only.  The children have worked very hard for this day – nothing should distract from them.

Boxtops For Education

Thank you to all who have participated in this program during the school year.  The program continues year-round so please continue to send in those boxtops!

Last Day of School

All Summer Camp and September registration forms should have been returned by now.  If we have not heard otherwise, your child will be continuing with the Summer Program and you have been billed accordingly.  The last day of school for those children not attending the Summer Camp will be Friday, June 14th (or Thursday, June 13th) depending on your child’s weekly schedule).  Arrangements can be made for your child to attend Little Folks for a few extra days if it is needed for your schedule.  End of year parties are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, June 13th and June 14th.  The Pizza Party will be held on Tuesday, June 11th.  All summer birthdays of students who will not be attending school during the summer months will also be celebrated at this time.  If you paid a deposit at the start of the year, it has been credited to your child’s last weeks of enrollment.  If your child is returning in September, this deposit will be held over and applied to next year’s last weeks in June or the summer.

Summer Enrichment Program

The Summer Camp program will begin on Monday, June 17th.  To start off the Summer Enrichment Program we will be serving breakfast to the students on Monday and Tuesday, June 17th and 18th.

Students may be enrolled in the camp for a minimum of four weeks to the maximum of the entire summer depending on space available.  Special events and weekly themes are scheduled for an action-packed summer.

Additionally, we will be adding a sprinkler and a water table to our outdoor playground equipment for the summer months.  The children will be permitted to use the sprinkler only under the close supervision of the teachers.  In order to participate, each child will need a bathing suit, towel, a cover-up (sweatshirt, T-shirt, etc.) and a bag in which to carry them.  Please label all items clearly with your child’s name.  After use, the items will be sent home. For hygienic reasons, children who are not toilet-trained may not use the sprinkler.  They will be able to use the water table. Please do not send your children to school wearing a “swimmie diaper”!

Little Folks is air-conditioned to protect us from the summer heat.  However, unless it is terribly hot, we will be spending a portion of the day outdoors.  Please apply sunscreen to your child before they come to school.  Regulations require that the school have written permission from parents in order to apply sunscreen to any child.  If you would like your child to wear sunscreen, please send it in, labeled with your child’s name, and sign the authorization form available from the office, and we will gladly assist your child in applying it later in the day if they should need it again.

Holiday

This year the Fourth of July falls on a Thursday.  Little Folks will be closed on

Thursday and Friday, July 4th and 5th.

Happy Father’s Day!   Best wishes to all of your families for a Happy and Healthy Summer!

Pre-Kindergarten – Miss Deb, Mrs. Donaghey and Miss Linda

We cannot believe it is already June and another school year is coming to an end!  We hope you liked your Mother’s Day gift.  The children put a lot of effort and thought into decorating them.  By looking at our classroom, you can tell that we were very busy this past month.   We have kites flying, flowers blooming, ladybugs crawling, bees buzzing and butterflies fluttering.  Our topic of discussion this past month was The Life Cycle of a Butterfly.  It is an amazing process to watch.  Seeing that tiny caterpillar grow, spinning its chrysalis, and then emerging as a butterfly!  Awesome!  Ask your child about some of the new vocabulary words they learned: proboscis (tongue of a butterfly); molting (caterpillar sheds its skin); metamorphosis (caterpillar changing into a butterfly); and symmetrical (wings on a butterfly are identical).

Our favorite books this month included:  From Caterpillar to Butterfly, I Love Bugs, Ten Little Caterpillars and Waiting For Wings.

For the month of June we are looking forward to many special activities: our

Pre-Kindergarten Graduation Program; the pizza party on Tuesday, June 11th; and all the fun and games we have planned for the last week of school.

ACADEMICS: Review of all colors, shapes, letters and numbers.

It was a pleasure to have your child in class this past year.  We would like to wish all of the children a fun and safe summer as well as a great year in kindergarten!

Our Summer Camp Program starts the week of June 17th with some new and some returning teachers:  Miss Caitlin, Miss Natalie, and Miss Bailey!!  We cannot wait for the fun to start in the Summer Enrichment Camp Program !!

Happy Father’s Day and Enjoy Your Summer!!

Preschool Class – Ms. Stephanie, Mrs. Lilley, Ms. Angelee and Ms. Nancy

June is here!  Hooray!  It’s hard to believe another school year is coming to an end.   In May we learned all about bugs and flowers.  We made bees, fireflies, butterflies, ladybugs, tulips, and daffodils.  We learned about plants and how they grow.

The letters we learned this month were Cc for Caterpillar and Vv for Volcano.  We reviewed the shapes: circle, square, triangle and rectangle, and the colors: red, blue, orange, and green.

The Academics for June include: Color Review – Yellow, Pink, Purple and Black; and Shape Review – Star, Heart, Diamond and Oval.

We are looking forward to the end-of-the-school- year parties.  They will take place on Thursday, June 21st and Friday, June 22nd. The pizza party will be on June 11th.

Thank you for sharing your children with us this year.  We enjoyed teaching them and spending time with them.  We hope everyone has a fantastic summer!

See you in Summer Enrichment Camp!

Happy Father’s Day, Dad!
